Tyson started off in 2007 as a 2 piece acoustic outfit playing small sets in London! Come 2009 they grew into a full 4 piece band and their flavour started to develop into the Soulful/Funk/Rock feel it is today. 2009 and 2011 saw Tyson reach the semi-finals of the ‘Surface Unsigned’ competition, performing at venues such as the Boston Music Rooms, Purple Turtle, Troubadour, Zigfrid, Islington 02 Academy and many more and scoring the highest points across the board in every category in their heats! The Best of British Music Festival in Canary Wharf was the scene of Tyson performing on quayside for the Metro newspaper. Other events include: performing at the opening of brand new cocktail bar Purl-London in May 2010 and reaching the semi-finals of the TfL busking competition 2010 and performing at the Lord Mayors Festival in East Ham park, July 2011 coming third place in the East London Talent Quest performing on their largest platform yet. In September 2010 Tyson launched their debut EP “and the beat goes on” at ‘The Water Rats’, Kings Cross, whilst performing as a support act for Eliza Doolittle on the very same night!
